About the Authors

Nicolas A. Katsanos, Ph.D., was Professor of Physical Chemistry from 1969 to 1997 at the University of Patras (Greece), where he founded the physical chemistry laboratory and where he continues to work on research projects, particularly on physiciochemical measurements by inverse gas chromatography. Dr. Katsanos was also head of a research group at the Nuclear Research Center DEMOCRITOS of the Greek Atomic Energy Commission in Athens and a scientific collaborator of the National Research Institute of Greece. The winner of the Empeirikion Scientific Prize, the Prize of the Athens Academy, the Desty Memorial Prize for Innovation in Separation Science, and the Prize of the Greek Chemists' Association, he is a Life Fellow and Chartered Chemist of the Royal Society of Chemistry London) and a member of the Greek Chemists' Association and the Chromatographic Society. Dr. Katsanos is the author or coauthor of 11 books and 176 scietnitfic publications.

George Karaiskakis, Ph.D., has been Professor of Physical Chemistry since 1990 at the University of Patras, where his reserach interests include the study of gas-liquid and gas-solid interfaces, the action of environmental pollutants on marbles and monuments, and physicochemical characterization of colloidal materials.. Dr. Karaiskakis's work, which included 103 journal publications and 6 books in physical chemistry, has been recognized by the Academy of Athens. He is a member of the Greek Chemists' Association.
